Commission 'Big Box - Little Box' Rubix Cube
Commissioned by an accountancy company to produce some work for their offices. Having spent time with the clients discussing their work, interests, objects on display and looking at the space my thoughts went to a rubix cube. Having their own memories based in the 80's the mathmatical logical nature of their work it felt a very natural step. I produced a few watercolour images that I then formed into the two pieces of work showing a disection of the cube and a reforming of the cube as a rubix cube on the wall.

Breaking the Sound Barrier
The Sony Walkman was the ultimate want in the 80's, I was given one for my birthday and if I'm honest I was delighted it was a Walkman, but utterly devastated it was blue. The dissapointment faded as armed with this and a stack of Maxell mix tapes music could indeed be around you always. I still have such a passion for music that still fills most of my days in some form

Debra Like a Zebra
With a short spelling to my name people natrually spell my name incorrectly and how I advise the spelling is to say 'Debra like a zebra'. Just gives me a sense that Zebra's have followed me my whole life and was lucky enough to go on safari and lunch surrounded by zebra's by chance I was wearing a striped t-shirt too - was meant to be.

A Momment in Time
As a child one of my brother and my obsessions was the moon exploration and landing, watching the grainy images om black and white TV's then seeing the amazing photographs later something that really struck me was his watch strapped to his are with a very domestic band to allow it around his padded out suit. When you think about the technology we now know lead to so much we have in our lives today including mobile phones that came from this venture to see the very domestic, anologue watch he wore, strapped on with little flare or care and you realise that this one bit of 'kit' was possibly Neil Armstrongs most vital life saver in knowing how long he had before he needed to return to the pod. The watch was a Speedmaster and they are highly sought after to this day.

Spangled
As an artist you have a real eye for detail, this is great and annoying in a way as I often see that I see and note things differently to other people and often spot something odd or different. Even as a young child I could something feel something wasn't quite right and Spangles sweets were one of those things for me. When given each year a selection stocking of Mars sweets, you had all the chocolate treats you image and in the middle of these were a packet of spangles, still a treat but at odds with the other items in the gift. They were one of those oddities and when creating my list of remembered items they popped into my head so I researched them to attempt to make sense of them being there. It was, as with many things a logical conclusion that Mars UK made these sweets so naturally they added them to the Chrismas stocking, what did blow my mind and something I didn't spot was that they also made Tunes, menthol sweets and I had never put the two together and seen that they were the same. The collage is created from various printed material of an original watercolour painting of two packets of spangles that are cut into the shape of a spangle and tunes to form the final image.

Twig's
Depection of Twiggy in her hay day, origianly I studied fashion and illustration. Twiggy was and will always be that iconic image of the 1960's and fashion generaly for me. It was all about the eyes and the original image really illustrates and sums her up in the simple photograph.

White Horses
The haunting music that accompanied the odd Czechoslovakian drama White Horse, that I still have no idea was about apart from the horses were in there somewhere. All of these odd blacka nd white programs from childhood that illustrated to start of the summer holidays on TV to keep us amused or terrified to be fair.

Nice Slice
Pencil sketch and watercolour of Finnish actor Ville Virtenan, who portrays an autistic detective in Boardertown. A great passion of mine is Scaninavian Noir films and TV shows. The collage work is created from multiple photocopying and degrading the image then re-formed onto metal leaf background. Called nice slice as the show focused on him mainly solving serial killer murders

Two for Joy
From two original watercolour paintings creating various collages of magpies, exploring a superstition if you saw one it was bad luck. Not being a superstitious person I found this odd when moving from London to the the countrydide as a child.
