Debra Danu Matthews is an established artist who was highly active in the 1990s, exhibiting her work extensively throughout the UK and participating in various commissions, as well as artistic and public art projects. In the early 2000s, Debra stepped back from the art world to focus on digital media projects, which allowed her to balance her creative pursuits with raising a young family. She found success in the digital industry, working on video game artwork, illustrating, and creating digital books and animations. Her achievements included producing four top 10 downloaded podcast animations and receiving a Sony award.

Rediscovering her passion for painting while working as an art & digital media lecturer and private tutor in 2018-19 lead to a new style of practice to produce these dynamic new works. With a fresh view of her work and a greater understanding of her practice, Debra felt that with the diversity of everything she had previous work on, learnt and discovered creatively has come together in this moment to produce her current work that is fresh in its approach and technique and highly sought after.

During this new era of pursuing her art as a career she has also immersed herself in the art community, establishing Gallery Live that finds alternative spaces and pop-up events for art shows. Highlighting in the annual Stony Live art festival where Gallery Live take over the entire High Street to create a massive gallery showcase that has supported and shown the work of over 40 artists work.
